Preventing a Perm with TRPV3
نویسنده
چکیده
Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling is instrumental for terminal differentiation of keratinocytes, hair morphogenesis, and maintenance of the skin barrier. Cheng et al. (2010) now demonstrate that the calcium-permeable channel TRPV3 is required for these EGFR-dependent functions.

The Role of C Fibers in Spinal Microglia Induction and Possible Relation with TRPV3 Expression During Chronic Inflammatory Arthritis in Rats
Introduction: Stimulation of peptidergic fibers activates microglia in the dorsal horn. Microglia activation causes fractalkine (FKN) release, a neuron-glia signal, which enhances pain. The transient vanilloid receptor 1 (TRPV1) mediates the release of neuropeptides, which can subsequently activate glia. TRPV1 and TRPV2 are generally expressed on C and Aδ fibers, respe...

Transient receptor potential vanilloid-3 (TRPV3) is a member of the TRPV subfamily of TRP ion channels. The physiological functions of TRPV3 are not fully understood, in part due to a lack of selective agonists and antagonists that could both facilitate the elucidation of roles for TRPV3 in mammalian physiology, as well as potentially serve as therapeutic agents to modulate conditions for which...
متن کاملOverexpression of TRPV3 Correlates with Tumor Progression in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
(1) BACKGROUND: Transient receptor potential vanilloid 3 (TRPV3) is a member of the TRP channels family of Ca(2+)-permeant channels. The proteins of some TRP channels are highly expressed in cancer cells. This study aimed to assess the clinical significance and biological functions of TRPV3 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC); (2) METHODS: Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expressio...
متن کاملTonic Inhibition of TRPV3 by Mg2+ in Mouse Epidermal Keratinocytes
The transient receptor potential vanilloid 3 channel (TRPV3) is abundantly expressed in epidermal keratinocytes and has important roles in sensory biology and skin health. Mg(2+) deficiency causes skin disorders under certain pathological conditions such as type 2 diabetes mellitus. In this study, we investigated the effect of Mg(2+) on TRPV3 in primary epidermal keratinocytes. Extracellular Mg...
متن کاملTRPV3 in Drug Development
Transient receptor potential vanilloid 3 (TRPV3) is a member of the TRP (Transient Receptor Potential) super-family. It is a relatively underexplored member of the thermo-TRP sub-family (Figure 1), however, genetic mutations and use of gene knock-outs and selective pharmacological tools are helping to provide insights into its role and therapeutic potential. TRPV3 is highly expressed in skin, w...
